Man City Legend Pablo Zabaleta and the Premier League Trophy go to Cityzens Giving Young Leaders in Mexico City to rejoice launch of expanded Xylem Water Heroes Academy

Mexico City, Mexico, September 22, 2022 – Manchester City’s global charity initiative, Cityzens Giving, and Official Water Technology Partner, Xylem, are delighted to announce the expansion of Xylem Water Heroes Academy, a world initiative in ten cities utilizing the facility of soccer to tackle local water challenges.
Since its launch in 2021, Xylem Water Heroes Academy has engaged over 75 younger leaders and delivered important water education to greater than 6,000 younger individuals in five cities: São Paulo, Mumbai, Cape Town, New York City and Shanghai. The expanded network, which now also contains youth-led initiatives in Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Cape Coast, Kuala Lumpur and Melbourne, aims to positively influence 20,000 more younger individuals over the subsequent 4 years.

In addition, City in the Community coaches delivered coaching to forty Young Leaders in Mexico City, sharing experience and data in management, group soccer and WASH. This was followed by a three-day digital Summit, connecting Young Leaders and Xylem experts from all ten cities to share concepts on tackling water challenges through soccer.

Valeria, a Young Leader with love.fútbol mentioned: “We want all the youngsters here to bear in mind that responsible water consumption is very important, and so they must take care of it. We obtained coaching from Man City coaches and learnt several games that train kids about water conservation via soccer. We are really joyful and grateful that Man City and Pablo Zabaleta visited our community.”
Later this season, City followers will have an opportunity to study more in regards to the 5 new Water Heroes Academy initiatives and vote for their favorite young water heroes.
